I need help with Raspberry Pi UI image

#1

Hi, This is Daniel.

I need help with Raspberry Pi UI image.

I installed the UI image in the software forum.

I copied the downloaded UI image in micro-sd card using “win32 diskimager” program.

However, the Raspberry Pi that booted from the installed micro-sd card did not work at all.
(No screen was displayed)

I want to find the UI image where Raspberry Pi works.

My board is Raspberry Pi 3.

I need you help.

I’m an electronics engineer and I do not know software well.

Thank you

Did you follow this guide?

Dumb question…are you sure that you are getting power to your Pi? How did you flash the SD? Etcher?

HI Daniel,
You wrote: “I installed the UI image in the software forum.”.
Can you provide the link to the UI Image that you installed?
thanks

Hi ferguman

I linked the site I downloaded.

Python 3.5 on Raspberry Pi

The page I downloaded is in “https://github.com/OpenAgInitiative/gro-controller/releases
“UPDATE Download Raspberry Pi Image Here” Click to download.

We ask for confirmation.

thanks

Hi Daniel,

Your links point to old software that is no longer supported. Please look at the following links which contain information pertaining to the new version 2 Food Computer S/W:

https://wiki.openag.media.mit.edu/food_computer_2 - this is the wiki page for the version 2 food computer. It has links to the software repositories and build instructions.

https://github.com/OpenAgInitiative/openag_brain - this is the code repository for the so called OpenAg Brain which comprises the bulk of the custom software that is installed on the Raspberry Pi.

Search this forum for postings by folks who are building the software right now. There are numerous talented people at work on version 2 food computers as we speak. Keep in mind that the current version is 2. There is information on the version 1 food computer out there. Always keep in mind what version you are looking at.

Also keep in mind that these are early days. Just when us wanna be farmers get something working the OpenAg team goes and changes things :-). This is the nature of the beast so be patient and take everything you read with a grain of salt as things are changing fast.

Also there is a group working on an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) including a software stack that is distinct from the Open AG version 2 stack. Search for MVP on this forum and you will find information on this group’s work. The MVP represents a low cost alternative to the V2 Food Computer. In my mind it might also be a better “first build” for people who are new to hydroponics because it is simpler in function than the V2 FC.

Good luck

Joe

Hi ferguman

Your answer has really helped me a lot.

I downloaded the latest Raspberry Pi image and installed it.

I then try to start it as described in “https://github.com/OpenAgInitiative/openag_brain/blob/master/doc/getting_started.rst#getting” starte

I have something else I want to check on you

How to install CoucdDB. “http://couchdb.apache.org/

Which version of CouchDB 2.1.0 and CouchDB 1.6.1 should I install?

To install Raspberry Pi, which version of OS should I download?

If possible, please let me know how to install it.

Thank you

I am using above UI . Is it you want?

Thank you for your reply.

I am a hardware engineer and have no idea about software.

So I feel grateful that you can ask the software.

I bought Raspberry Pie 3 to do openag.

I thought Raspberry Pi was the first to update the UI.

So I set it on the site you told me,

The problem still occurs.

I think there is a problem with how to set Raspberry Pi.

So I would like to ask you about the initial setting procedure of Raspbtty Pi.

Dears, you need to do things as belows

  1. Install “Raspbian” OS for Raspberry Pi3
  2. Install “The Brain” on to the Raspbian and the set RaspberryPi3+usbCAM+Arduino 2560mega can linked together by flash code from the OpenAG_Brain Flash code to Arduino Mega 2560.
  3. The UI is a user interface to see what’s going on .

They just relased V2.1 ,start it over from 16G tf cards. After you knows what’s going on, “win32 diskimager” a 16G to a 32G tf card, resize the work area to 32G size.
